Room 77, Make Sure You Get The Best Room In Your Hotel

Many frequent travelers consider SeatGuru an essential resource for picking seats on an airplane.  We recently came across a new service called Room77, whose goal is to find the best rooms in a hotel.

As many of you know, all rooms in a given hotel are not equal – even if they are classified in the same category. Some have great views, some are smaller, and some are noisier than others. Room77 is a website that recommends the best room in a given hotel according to your own specific criteria (floor, view, distance from elevator, connecting room, etc.).

Unfortunately you can't directly book your preferred room at this time, but you can find the room you prefer, and call the hotel front desk a couple of days before your arrival and tell them about the rooms you would be interested in.  The app is also helpful at check-in, as you can view your assigned room on your iPhone and decide if you should accept it or request a new one.  Don’t waste your time calling the toll-free reservation number for enquiries like this, as they are not empowered to make those types of decisions.

Some people feel “a hotel room is just a hotel room”.  Personally, I like the idea of rating rooms, especially having suffered through noisy rooms with construction just outside, and rooms that directly face an office / apartment.  I’ve heard that quality of Wi-Fi signal may be added as an additional criteria.
As the service was only launched last month, there aren’t that many hotel listed at the moment; and you can’t book the room of your choice through the app.  But, it's still worth a look!
