Newark? Far from New York City?

I have some meetings in Newark, NJ, and was wondering if it was possible to stay in a hotel in Manhattan while going for work meetings in Newark? Are there any public transportation? Do I need to rent car?

Hi Jill,

You can definitely commute from Newark Airport to Manhattan quite easily. You can take a bus from Manhattan (Penn Station, Port Authority Bus Terminal, or Grand Central).

An other option it to take a train at Penn Station to Newark Airport Railroad Station, and then if you have to go to the airport, you can take the airtrain. The whole trip should take about 40 minutes.

Anyway, I hope that helps!

Hi Jill

Katy is exactly right! Last week, I stayed in Newark but visited family in Manhattan. It was very easy to take the train into the city, and much quicker than I expected.

Good luck!

Hi Jill,

I may be late with this one but you can also take the PATH train to Newark easily.  If you're leaving in the morning you will be going against the rush hour crush and at $1.75 each way you won't be killing your budget.
