Veg food in Shanghai?

Hi! has anyone been to shanghai on business? I was wondering if you could give me some tips about the place. I am a strict vegetarian and was wondering how easy veg food is to come by there? A friend of mine (also a vegetarian) who returned from there had a lot of complaints that she had a tough time finding veg food. Even if she did get it, she had no clue what she was eating. Besides, language was a problem - she said she had a hard time trying to explain what kind of food she wanted. But since this was a couple of years back, I'm wondering if things have changed now? Any advice?

Hi,

I have just returned from Shanghai. I am not a vegetarian myself, but my colleague is. She found a website that lists the veg restaurants in the city: http://www.happycow.net/asia/china/shanghai/.

In addition, in the business area of the city, I noticed that the menus are both in Chinese and English so it shouldn't be a problem to pick vegetarian food.

So right! I'm in Shanghai at the moment and I realize I needn't have worried in the first place! Thanks :)
