Does it pay to be ‘one of the guys’ at work?

I recently came across an article on Forbes.com that is not travel related, but very interesting!  Article author Meghan Casserly wrote about her experiences trying to make it in a man’s world.  A little clichéd, but there was some good advice in there about how to become part of the “boy’s club” that exists in many large organizations.  Some of Ms. Casserly’s observations included: Women who try to be one of the boys can be ostracized by their female colleagues Work can be like high school Women sometimes have more to lose than men if they try to play by men’s rules This topic is clearly a controversial one, so please respond in the comments with your thoughts! Are you part of the boy’s club? Do you...

What's In Ivanka Trump Carry-On? And What's in Yours?

According to startle.com, Ivanka Trump never travels without her: iPad 2 Laptop Kate Somerville Nourish Daily Moisturizer Cashmere travel blanket, and a Stainless steel water bottle (although I guess she has to empty it to go through security!). "Disposable socks have also become a must when flying commercial. It is never fun to take off your shoes at the security checkpoint so I always make sure to bring thick socks in my carry on when I travel."   Personally,  I've never tried the disposable socks except the ones they give in a few airports.  A few of my essentials include: Some medication (I have asthma and never travel without an inhaler in my carry-on!), My eye glasses (in case I decide to remove...

Colgate Wisps – no more morning breath!

Long, overnight flights are not fun for anyone. How is it that even though it’s nearly impossible to sleep on a red-eye, I still feel like I have morning breath when it’s time to land? Thankfully, I discovered Colgate Wisps.  These pocket-sized tooth brushes make the red-eye slightly more bearable because I can brush my teeth without the hassle of digging through my bag, finding toothpaste (which I have likely checked) and blindly reaching for my toothbrush. Wisps are the travel toothbrush that gives me confidence to speak to the stewardess and my fellow passengers without fear of offending!  They are available in most grocery and convenience stores, as well as at airport newsstands. Check them out! A pack of 2 is $11.99 on Amazon.com.

Not Another Client Outing?!

We are great at entertaining – world travelers tend to pull from their own experiences to plan great activities for others. However, many of us are faced with the constant challenge of what to do with clients and professional acquaintances when they are traveling. A great meal is nice, but restaurant after restaurant can be tiring (and unhealthy!). So, we did some snooping, and put together some of our favorite picks in our favorite cities. This list is by no means comprehensive, and a few activities require some planning, but they are sure to make for a great afternoon or evening outing that is sure to be remembered! San Francisco:  San Francisco is all about wine. So, why not do a wine tasting? The city’s close proximity to California wine country means that the city...
